Last year I did a video on the power of taking a break. You can watch that here if you would like.

It seems silly that we have to be reminded to take a break. Even our watches now remind us to GET UP and take a break. Our society has trained us to keep our heads down and just keep working. All that matters is productivity.

But ironically, taking a break actually improves productivity.

Not only have psychologists found this to be true, it’s perfectly in line with what I’ve seen in my own life and business. I look back over the year and realize I didn’t write, I didn’t do art work, I didn’t create most of 2018.

Why? I never stopped to take a break. I didn’t take the time to meditate like I should, and leave technology behind.

So far in 2019 I have written an article a day. I have recorded 2 videos, and have painted a painting (plus created several thank you cards). I have been more prolific with creating in 2019 than most of 2018.

What changed other than the year? I meditate away from technology 3-5 times a week for an hour each time. This is time to not only reflect and decompress, but to be still and hear my own thoughts.

This has allowed me to come up with new ideas for clients, for myself, and for others. This time has allowed me the ability to better absorb and understand the marketing studies I am reading and discover ways to apply them.

What has meditation, a walk in the woods, or a disconnect from technology done for you? Have you unplugged recently?

If not, I urge you to make the time.

15 minutes a day is better than nothing and in time you to will discovered increased energy, increased passion and increased productivity for the tasks at hand.

If you have questions or need help learning to meditate let me know, I have an amazing network of people I can connect you with who do just that!

Thanks for reading!
